We are so saddened by the death of Janyce Churchill Brown. She was one of the first volunteers that traveled to Nicaragua after the formation of Partners in Health. As a well-trained operating room supervisor she was indispensable in organizing our surgical teams and seeing that we had the proper equipment. She was invaluable in facilitating Dr Sandy Palmer eye surgeries in Puerto Cabezas. What impressed me the most about Janyce was her ability to bond with those that she served. She usually stayed in the homes of Nicaraguan rather than the local hotel, which offered more creature comforts. She was the type of volunteer that we all try to emulate. We love and miss you Janyce.
